Learn the fundamentals of writing comics from a 15-year veteran of the comics industry. Lilah Sturges has written over 350 issues of comics: for Marvel, DC, Oni, IDW, Legendary, Boom! and others. She won a PRISM Award in 2019, and has been nominated for the Eisner, Ignatz, and GLAAD Media awards.

In six 90-minute online sessions, you’ll learn fundamental aspects of how to:

  • create a comics script
  • break down a story for comics
  • write descriptions and dialog
  • pitch to editors
  • navigate the comics industry

The cost of the class is $225. Multiply-marginalized people may take the class for a discounted price ($150). Multiply-marginalized typically refers to LGBTQIA+ people of color, but may also include disability, age, etc. My goal is to err on the side of making the class accessible to marginalized folks.

Thor: Worthy Origins

Among the lofty spires of Asgard, young Thor is the strongest, brashest and most arrogant god of all. But his giant-slashing, troll-smashing days come to an abrupt end when his jealous brother, Loki, tricks him into a foolish attack. As punishment for his sins, Thor is cast down to Earth into the mortal form of Dr. Donald Blake. Revisit the fantastical origin of the Son of Odin in a graphic novel that thrusts the tale of Thor into the modern age – with thunderous results – and follow the Thunder God’s journey of self-discovery and a mortal man’s awakening to the power within! In this epic saga of towering Frost Giants, belching maidens and massive battles, one hero must decide which identity is truly his – before both of the worlds he loves are destroyed!

The Magicians: Alice’s Story

The Magicians: Alice’s Story is an all new chapter set in the world of The Magicians trilogy of novels by New York Times bestselling author Lev Grossman that retells the events of the first novel through fan-favorite character Alice Quinn.

Alice is manifestly brilliant, and she’s always known that magic is real. During her years at Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, she rises to the top of her class, falls in love with Quentin Coldwater, and witnesses a horrifically magical creature invade their dimension.

It’s not soon after graduation when Alice, Quentin, and their friends set their sights on the idyllic setting of Fillory–a place thought to only live in the pages of their favorite children’s books–where magic flows like rivers . . . But in this magical realm nothing is what it seems and something darker lies behind the spellbinding facade. It is in the darkness where Alice will discover her true calling and her life, and those friends, forever changed.

Acclaimed novelist Lev Grossman joins New York Times bestselling writer Lilah Sturges (Jack of Fables), and breakout artist Pius Bak for a new chapter in the smash hit trilogy The Magicians.

The Magicians: New Class

Long after Quentin and his friends have graduated from Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, Dean Fogg invites a historic new group of students to enroll- the first ever class of hedge magicians, rogue practitioners of unsanctioned magic. But the traditional magicians aren’t too thrilled to have the rule-breaking outcasts in their hallowed halls, and tempers flare as the student bodies clash to prove their superiority – not realizing a new danger has emerged to threaten them all.

The malevolence behind the threat at Brakebills will rock everyone to their cores – and even shock longtime fans of The Magicians!

New York Times bestselling series creator Lev Grossman returns with an all-new story in the world of The Magicians with award-winning writer Lilah Sturges (The Magicians: Alice’s Story) and rising star artist Pius Bak that features the first appearance of the next generation of heroes and villains.
